After a weekend full of fighting games, the Weekend December Open, as part of SCC Weekend Classics, came to an end.
The tournament had a very good turnout of 31 players, with all games being transmitted online, allowing family, friends and other chess followers to watch the games live.
The tournament was won by WFM Nina Aguilar, who deservedly won the event unbeaten with 4.5 points. In her last game Filipina had to play very actively an inferior rook endgame against Conrad Thake, in order to save the draw that allowed her to secure first place.
Second place was shared by Andrei Dobbin, who took second on tie-breaks, and Paul Rovatti, both on 4 points.
Other prizes included, Best Female going to Ellie Ghitza, Best Junior won by Vince Kosik, and Bets Unrated player going to Vladimir Lukin - Владимир Лукин.
